Patrick McKeown,
Buteyko Clinic International

The Buteyko Breathing Method was developed in 1952 by Ukrainian medical doctor Konstantin Buteyko. The work of Dr. Buteyko involved merging Eastern breathing techniques with Western medical science. More popularly known in the Western world as a proven method to help with asthma, in more recent years, the Buteyko Method has been applied with great success to sleep disorders including snoring and sleep apnea, stress, anxiety and panic attacks along with addressing mouth breathing in children for normal craniofacial development.

Having suffered from asthma for over 20 years Patrick McKeown travelled to Russia and was accredited to teach the Buteyko Method by Dr. Konstantin Buteyko himself in 2002. That same year, upon his return to Ireland, he founded Buteyko Clinic International to disseminate the work of Dr. Buteyko to a Western audience.

To date he has written ten books, recorded five self instructional DVD sets and online courses, coached thousands of clients and trained healthcare professionals from over 40 countries in the Buteyko Breathing Method. His work has been published by leading publishing houses and has co-authored a number of scientific papers investigating the Buteyko Method for asthma.
